English made 'The Field' half hunter pocket watch by J.W.Benson in an 18ct gold case hallmarked for London c1909, with top wind and pin set time change. Black Roman hours on both the outer case and the signed white enamel dial with blued steel hands and subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o/c. J.W.Benson signed jewelled lever movement with diamond end stone, split bi-metallic balance and overcoil hairspring and numbered 7277 with the case back also signed 'J.W.B' and in the original blue plush lined retail case.

Case diameter 52mm.

J.W.Benson was founded in 1847 in London by brothers James William and Samuel Suckley Benson, this partnership was dissolved in 1855. The factory was bombed in WWII and they ceased manufacturing. Mappin and Webb bought them out in 1980.
