French Marble Cased Brocot Movement Garniture

Description

French 8 day gong striking, marble cased clock garniture, with Brocot style visible escapement. The movement by L.Marti et Cie with a 'Medaille de Bronze' back stamp is numbered 48 and is circa 1890. It is housed in an architectural style two colour marble case and is accompanied by two marble and brass side pieces surmounted by gilded urns. All three pieces display neo classical copper plaques and ornate gilded brass fluted columns with acanthus leaf plinths.
The clock has an ornately decorated silvered dial with black hands and hour numerals and slow / fast adjustment available at the 12 o/c position, together with a gilded Brocot style visible escapement.
