Description

English silver cased pocket watch by Kendal & Dent, London in a case bearing a Birmingham hallmark for circa 1896. Key wind and time change with signed white enamel dial and black Roman hours with gilt hands and subsidiary seconds dial. Signed going barrel movement with floral decorated cock piece and jewelled end stone and with inscription '106 Cheapside, London' and numbered #82226, the number repeated on the case back with the 'K&D' stamp.

Case Diameter - 50mm, Depth - 18mm.

The Kendal Watch Company was founded by John Barrow in 1776, and it quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality watches. In 1815, the company was taken over by the Dent family who had already established themselves as a watchmakers in London. The company was renamed Kendal & Dent.
