Swiss made J.W.Benson hand wind half hunter wristwatch in a silver case made by Huguenin Freres and with Glasgow import hallmark for c1933 on a black leather 18mm strap with chrome buckle. Signed white dial with black numeric hours and blued steel hands with subsidiary seconds dial. Swiss Cyma/Tavannes Cal 234 adjusted 15 jewel jewelled lever movement with split bi-metallic balance and overcoil hairspring and numbered 202697 with Huguenin Frères case back numbered 0521214. Case back also stamped with JWB.
Case diameter - 33mm, strap fitting - 18mm.
J.W.Benson was founded in 1847 in London by brothers James William and Samuel Suckley Benson, this partnership was dissolved in 1855. The factory was bombed in WWII and they ceased manufacturing. Mappin and Webb bought them out in 1980.
