Swiss made J.W.Benson hand wind wristwatch in a 9ct gold case made by Francois Borgel and with Glasgow import hallmark for c1932 on a brown leather strap with gilt buckle. Signed white dial with black luminous infilled numeric hours and matching hands with subsidiary seconds dial. Swiss Cyma calibre 010 adjusted 16 jewel jewelled lever movement with split bi-metallic balance and overcoil hairspring and numbered 582272 with Schwob Frères & Co case back numbered 0169984.
Case diameter - 33mm, strap fitting - 18mm.
J.W.Benson was founded in 1847 in London by brothers James William and Samuel Suckley Benson, this partnership was dissolved in 1855. The factory was bombed in WWII and they ceased manufacturing. Mappin and Webb bought them out in 1980.
