Swiss officers style WWI manual wind trench watch in a 9ct gold Dennison case hallmarked for Birmingham c1913 on a leather strap with gilt buckle. J.W.Benson signed white enamelled dial with black numeric hours and blued steel hands with subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o/c. Fitted with a Swiss made manual wind calibre FHF1 15 jewel jewelled lever movement.
Case diameter - 32mm, strap fitting - 12mm.
J.W.Benson was founded in 1847 in London by brothers James William and Samuel Suckley Benson, this partnership was dissolved in 1855. The factory was bombed in WWII and they ceased manufacturing. Mappin and Webb bought them out in 1980.
