English J.W.Benson 'The Bank' pocket watch with top wind and pin set time change in a silver case with London hallmark for c1916. Signed white enamel dial with black Roman hours and gilt hands with subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o/clock. English signed 3/4 plate jewelled lever movement with split bi-metallic balance and numbered 40127 with that number repeated on the 'JWB' case back and complete with original red leather and blue plush velvet retail case.

Case diameter - 50mm.

J.W.Benson was founded in 1847 in London by brothers James William and Samuel Suckley Benson, this partnership was dissolved in 1855. The factory was bombed in WWII and they ceased manufacturing. Mappin and Webb bought them out in 1980.
