English 8 day dark stained wood cased mantel clock timepiece circa 1950 by Davall. Brass handled caddy topped case with cut-out front over flat glass and silvered chapter ring with matt centre and gilt spandrels and Thwaites and Reed plaque at 6 o'clock. Black roman hours with outer Arabic minutes track and black steel hands. Davall good quality brass plate movement stamped 'Made in England', with lever escapement, time change control and captive winding key.

Stephan Davall started clockmaking in 1884 with his two sons Leonard in 1912 and Reginald in 1918. The firm of S.Davall & Sons was formed in 1925.

The company was sold in 1933 to the Dimier Brothers, who carried on the business under the name S.Davall & Sons.
